Highlights

By taking this tour, you will be able to explore the central and southern part of Mongolia. You can experience riding two hump camels in the Gobi desert and see dinosaur fossils, wild sheep, eagles and hawks anywhere you go. We will visit different nomadic families with camel, yak and horse herders. We can see how nomadic people live and make dairy products with their family and try real fresh organic products made by the locals. Enjoy riding yak, horses and camels. We will visit a few Buddhist monasteries, temples and old ruins of it. Play Mongolian traditional ankle bone games and enjoy hiking beautiful natural scenery and see stars at night and overstay in the traditional nomadic “Ger” house during your whole trip.

Day: 1. Ulaanbaatar city

Arrival in the Capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar city. Transfer to hotel. City tour starts from Gandan monastery, the biggest Buddhist temple in Mongolia, and we will stop at the main square Chinggis Khan. Visit Zaisan Hill Memorial and see a Mongolian folk and dance concert in the evening.

Day: 2. Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park

Fly to South Gobi, check in into Ger camp, visit camel herder family and ride two hump camels in sand dunes. First day staying in a nomadic house called “Ger”.You will feel comfort and relaxation at the Ger.Visit Yol Valley in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park.

Day: 3. Khongor Sand Dunes

Drive to Khongor Sand dunes, one of the most fascinating deserts as if the ground is made of silk. When wind blows from north to west, sand makes sound and it has been named as “singing dunes” by local people.

Day: 4. Bayanzag –Dinosaurs fossils

Drive to Bayanzag, famous for its dinosaur fossils. We can see Mongolian Flaming Cliff named by Roy Chapman Andrew, an American Paleontologist who visited in the 1920s. Fossilized remains of dinosaurs are still found from this area. Mongolian Gobi is selected as one of the best tourism destinations by Adventure magazine of National Geographic Society. Overstay in Ger camps and enjoy watching sun sets in the vast empty steppe. Moderate hiking is required.

Day: 5. Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake

Continue our trip from Gobi to Steppe zone. We will arrive at Terkhiin Tsagaaan Lake which covers a 24 sq miles area and 9.9 miles length known as White lake among locals. Further, we drive to see the volcanic eruption Khorgo and hike to explore surroundings. Overstay at Ger camp by the lake.

Day: 6. Khorgo Volcano

Visit the Yak family and see how to make dairy products by the local family. Give try to milk goats, sheep and cow and spend half day at the family and enjoy doing farm experience in real life (mare milk is available depending on months of travel)

Day: 7. Kharkhorin –ancient capital of Mongolia

See Taikhar stone on the way to KharKhorin, ancient capital of Mongolian Empire in 12th century. Check in camp and explore the local market, museums.

Day: 8. Erdene Zuu monastery

Visit Erdene Zuu Buddhist monastery, one of the oldest monasteries of Mongolia surrounded by 108 stupas. See its museum. See monk’s daily Buddhist ceremony at the temple.

Day: 9. Khugnu Khan National Park

Arrive to Khugnu Khan Mountain, visit Erdene Khamba temple and hiking to its old monastery ruins and overstay at Ger camp. Stop by natural springs good for eyes, liver and stomach.

Day: 10. Khustai National park

Drive to Hustai National Park, National protected area since 1993.You can see World's last wild horses (Przewalski horses) here.Overstay at ger camp.

Day: 11. Chonjin Boldog

Chonjin Boldog is the largest Chinggis Khan’s Horse Riding Statue in the World. It is located 55 km from Ulaanbaatar. The statue is 40m high from the surface erected at about 10 m high and surrounded by columns. It is made of 250 tons of steel and the basement building consists of 36 supporting columns which symbolizes 36 kings who are direct lineage of Chinggis Khan.

Day: 12. Terelj National Park

Visit Terelj National park, Hiking to a temple located up a hill. See beautiful natural scenery from the temple. Horse Riding at Terelj National Park. Overstay at the Ger camp.

Day: 13. Ulaanbaatar

Arrive back to Ulaanbaatar. Shopping at the cashmere outlet, farewell dinner at the Mongolian BBQ restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day: 14. Departure

We will see off at the airport.
